Too much fun...

Remember when I said I'd live in Cape Breton and Halifax at the same time if I could? Well, my recent visit home is making it real hard to drive back to the city tomorrow. Here's a look at my week in God's Country (a.k.a Cape Breton, NS).

One of the things I was most excited about was getting back on the Mira. Cape Breton is beautiful and one of my favourite ways to enjoy it's beauty is on the water. There's just something about being in the middle of the water on a hot sunny day...a beer doesn't hurt either.

Can you see a theme forming? Not the beer, the water! My parents' deck/pool got a lot of Lindsey time this week. I try sitting next to my bath tub in my Halifax apartment, but it just doesn't have the same effect.

Wedding festivities!!! I love a good wedding. A wedding reception is the best kind of party because it combines friends, family, love, drinks, and pretty dresses. Congrats to the happy couple!

My CB vacation also consisted of a lot of family and friend time that I didn't catch on camera, but that added to the great times I had this week. Dreading going back to Halifax and work. Vacations are never long enough. I had so much fun though, that I put my back out. Yes, like a 75 year old woman, I, at 23, have hurt my back at least 10 times. To the point that I can hardly move. 

It was worth it though...

What I Found in The Depths of the Internet

I work an office job. Luckily, that office job is in the marketing and promotions department, so I'm not constantly tied to my desk. BUT there are days that I spend, like, 6 hours in a row on my computer. Aside from poor posture, this also gives me the opportunity to search the web and waste time discovering cool things like recipes and home decor and new bands!!! I definitely didn't cry while writing this piece about The Tragically Hip...

The Tragically Hip - Man Machine Poem Day 3 in Toronto, ON Armed with will and determination...and grace, too. Gord Downie, lead of The Tragically Hip, embodies that line from the song Grace, Too. Those words have never been felt deeper than they were these last few weeks as the band takes the stage in multiple cities across Canada for what has been deemed their farewell tour. In May, the band released a statement letting their adoring fans know that frontman Gord Downie - a Canadian treasure on the same level (or above) as icons like Don Cherry and Wayne Gretzky - was suffering from terminal brain cancer. The news hit Canadians hard. But the love for The Hip was never more evident as tickets to their Man Machine Poem tour (named after their most recent album which dropped in June) sold out in no time.
