It's been awhile since my fingers hit the keyboard for a blog post - my apologies! I've been swamped with my 2.5 jobs lately (one is volunteer). But with December first just a couple of days away, I figured it's time for a CHRISTMAS POST!
Christmas is my most favourite time of year. I love xmas activities like decorating the tree and drinking candy cane flavoured drinks and getting dolled up for holiday parties. I start getting excited as soon as Halloween is over, but try to suppress my urge to deck the halls until at least late November.
That being said, I know some people just can't. So today class, let's discuss the three types of holiday lovers.
1. The Christmas Craver - This is the category I think I fall in. The Christmas Craver can be found dreaming of visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads in early November. However, you won't see a decoration on their tree before December 1st. They're respectful of earlier holidays like Remembrance Day, but have secretly been longing for the most wonderful time of the year since Halloween. Once December 1st hits though, The Christmas Craver will pack every single Christmas activity possible into their schedule. Decorating on Monday, gingerbread house on Tuesday, carolling Wednesday, you get the picture...
2. Holiday Humbug - A distant relative of Scrooge McDuck and The Grinch, the Holiday Humbug is that friend that puts off all of their shopping and decorating (if they do it at all) until the last minute. Then they will complain about the hustle and bustle of the city. Christmas music makes them cringe and instead of counting down the days until Christmas, they count down the days until it's over. The Holiday Humbug just sees Christmas as stress-filled and probably hates puppies too.
3. Slow Down Santa - (side note, the names are getting worse as I go, I'm aware.) "Slow down, Santa!" is probably what the elves say when the jolly ol' fellow is hoofing back all of those cookies on Christmas eve. Friends of this type of holiday lover say the same thing...in October. The Slow Down Santa has their Christmas shopping done before they nail down a Halloween costume. They're wishing for snow when most of us are wishing for one more warm day. Not only do they wish Whoville was a real place, a Slow Down Santa also thinks everyone else needs to be this excited for Christmas this early too.
So there we have it, friends. The three types of holiday people (that I've encountered anyway). Which one are you?
Wine at the time: mulled. duh.
